The members of the Air and Space Trio originally met during a Professional Training Workshop—a program of The Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall—led by legendary jazz pianist, composer, and improviser Fred Hersch. Through a series of serendipitous match-ups, Stephanie Richards (trumpet), James Shipp (percussion), and Jo Lawry (voice) discovered a common curiosity, playfulness, and aesthetic that has formed the basis for their folk and jazz fusion.
