MUSICAL EXPLORERS FAMILY CONCERTSaturday, January 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 3:00 PM (Zankel Hall) Discover music from around the world in this vibrant, highly interactive concert for children. Artists with magnetic personalities teach families all about their musical traditions—including Mele Hawai'i led by Grammy Award winner, Kalani Pe'a; violinist and singer Layth Sidiq, illuminating traditions of Iraqi folk music; and Dominican Roots music, led by guitarist, vocalist, and composer Yasser Tejeda. Free pre-concert activities take place in Zankel Hall one hour before the performance. Recommended for families with students in grades K–2. |

A WELL-BEING CONCERTTuesday, January 16, 2024 at 6:30 PM (Resnick Education Wing) Music’s ability to bridge cultures, expand traditions, and connect individuals can be felt in this powerful, interactive Well-Being Concert with Senegalese kora master and djeli Ablaye Cissoko and French accordionist Cyrille Brotto. This intimate performance by the acclaimed duo aspires to generate new feelings of connection and make a long-lasting, uplifting impression on audience members. Audience members can choose from a variety of casual and comfortable seating options, with mats, cushions, and chairs all available on a first-come, first-served basis. THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRASaturday, January 20, 2024 at 8:00 PM Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) Music Director and Perspectives artist Franz Welser-Möst and The Cleveland Orchestra launch this season’s citywide festival Fall of the Weimar Republic: Dancing on the Precipice at Carnegie Hall with two programs that demonstrate the diverse musical styles of the Weimar era. The first program includes works by Bartók, Krenek’s Little Symphony, Op. 58—his final symphonic work before fleeing his homeland of Austria and the Anschluss of 1938—and Mahler’s unfinished Adagio from Symphony No. 10 in F-sharp Major, completed by Ernst Krenek. The orchestra returns the following evening to present Prokofiev’s symphonies nos. 2 and 5 and Webern’s Symphony, Op. 21. |

Each master class explores innovative approaches to both classic and current song repertoire, inviting new audiences to engage with the time-honored, evolving art form of the vocal recital. The week of public master classes led by Ms. Fleming, soprano Angel Blue, tenor Nicholas Phan, and collaborative pianist Graham Johnson, culminates in a recital, showcasing the vocalists and pianists who have taken part in this intensive program, with this season’s concert taking place in the Center Stage configuration in Zankel Hall Graham Johnson |

THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRATuesday, January 23, 2024 at 8:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) For the second of The Philadelphia Orchestra’s six performances this season, Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads the orchestra as a part of citywide festival Fall of the Weimar Republic: Dancing on the Precipice. Joined by Marcus Roberts Trio—a jazz trio comprising pianist Marcus Roberts, drummer Jason Marsalis, and bassist Martin Jaffe, the ensemble performs Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, marking this landmark work’s centennial year. The program also includes Stravinsky’s Pétrouchka (1947 version) and Weill’s Symphony No. 2. |

BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAMonday, January 29, 2024 at 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 7:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) Music Director and conductor Andris Nelsons leads the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, featuring International Chopin Piano Competition winner Seong-Jin Cho. This concert, part of the citywide festival Fall of the Weimar Republic: Dancing on the Precipice, also includes an opportunity for audiences to revisit the 2021 Pulitzer Prize–winning Stride by Tania León, Carnegie Hall’s 2023–2024 Debs Composer’s Chair. The following evening, Maestro Nelsons and the orchestra present a concert performance of Shostakovich’s opera Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk featuring Kristine Opolais, Brenden Gunnell, Peter Hoare, Günther Groissböck, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. |

BRAD MEHLDAUWednesday, January 31, 2024 at 7:30 PM (Zankel Hall) Composer and pianist Brad Mehldau returns to present an evening that features his original works, including Fourteen Reveries—a New York premiere co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall—in Zankel Hall Center Stage. Zankel Hall’s stage will be transformed into an in-the-round configuration, offering concertgoers an intimate and unique setting to experience music at Carnegie Hall. |
