THE MET ORCHESTRAThursday, February 1, 2024 at 8:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) The Met Orchestra returns for the first of three concerts this season led by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. As part of the citywide festival Fall of the Weimar Republic: Dancing on the Precipice, the orchestra and Mr. Nézet-Séguin perform Webern’s orchestration of Fuga (Ricercata) a 6 voci from J. S. Bach’s Musical Offering (orch. Webern); Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, and are joined by soprano Lise Davidsen in her Carnegie Hall debut singing Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder. |

MUNICH PHILHARMONICSaturday, February 3, 2024 at 8:00 PM Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) Conductor Laureate Zubin Mehta leads the Munich Philharmonic in two all-Brahms concerts with pianist Yefim Bronfman. The first concert features Mr. Bronfman playing Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 1 followed by the composer’s Symphony No. 4. The following evening Mr. Bronfman returns to perform Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2, alongside the Symphony No 2. |

A WELL-BEING CONCERTSunday, February 4, 2024 at 6:00 PM (Zankel Hall) Trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator Sean Jones leads alums of NYO Jazz in Zankel Hall Center Stage, an intimate setting that invites audiences to sit on all sides of the performers. This communal, "in the round" configuration brings listeners closer than ever to the music—an ideal way to enjoy live jazz performed by a group of master improvisers and ensemble players. APOLLON MUSAGÈTE QUARTETWednesday, February 7, 2024 at 7:30 PM (Weill Recital Hall) Poland’s Apollon Musagète Quartet returns with a program of string quartets, including two posthumously published Schubert compositions: “Quartettsatz" in C Minor, D. 703 and String Quartet in E-flat Major, D. 87, the latter composed when Schubert was 16. The quartet also performs Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 10 in E-flat Major, Op. 51 and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8. |

A WELL-BEING CONCERTSunday, February 11, 2024 at 5:00 PM (Resnick Education Wing) Immerse yourself in a mesmerizing musical performance by “spellbinding” (The New Yorker) clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and his genre-crossing CityBand, hosted by Lucas Johnson. Joined by guitarist Kyle Sanna, percussionist John Hadfield, bassist Josh Myers, and special guest violinist Layale Chaker, Azmeh creates a dynamic blend of classical music, jazz, and the music of his homeland, Syria. Masterful improvisation and elements of interaction with the audience make this Well-Being Concert an especially powerful communal experience. This year’s program welcomes back Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners Robert F. Smith and features dynamic panel discussions led by the financial-empowerment visionaries of Earn Your Leisure—Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings. THE KNIGHTSThursday, February 29, 2024 at 7:30 PM (Zankel Hall) The Knights return for the second of their boundary-expanding three-concert series, led by artistic directors Colin and Eric Jacobsen. As part of the citywide Fall of the Weimar Republic festival, the ensemble looks both to the past and present through multiple layers of history and culture—exploring the connections between music by Ravel, Weill, Bob Dylan, and Chico Buarque. The ensemble is joined by violinist and singer-songwriter Christina Courtin and special guest vocalist Magos Herrera, as well as acclaimed pipa player Wu Manas soloist in the world premiere of a work by Du Yun (co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall). |
