Daniil Trifonov by Dario Acosta
Daniil Trifonov, “one of the most awesome pianists of our time” (The New York Times), showcases Weber’s virtuosity, Brahms’s massive sonorities, and Szymanowski’s mysterious harmonies. Weber’s music requires fleet-fingered skill, while Szymanowski’s and Brahms’s sonatas test a pianist’s stamina and focus. Few performers could meet the challenge, but “what sets Trifonov apart is a pair of attributes that are seldom found in one pianist: monstrous technique and lustrous tone” (The New Yorker).
