The Oratorio Society of New York presents Mendelssohn's Elijah. Kent Tritle conducts soloists Susanna Phillips, Lucia Bradford, Isaiah Bell, Justin Austin, Zachary Whelan, and the Chorus and Orchestra of the Society. Felix Mendelssohn's setting of this ancient epic includes frenzied rituals, ecstatic hymns of praise, stirring choruses, and operatic arias which tell the story of Elijah's defense of the Hebrew God over Baal. This performance marks the Oratorio Society's 39th performance of Elijah since 1876.
