Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz is a jaw-droppingly talented big band comprising some of the best young jazz players from across the United States. Led by the great trumpeter Sean Jones, NYO Jazz has been called “astonishing—not just technically, but stylistically” (The Telegraph). NEA Jazz Master and Grammy-winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater joins as special guest in this wide-ranging program that highlights big-band jazz as a limitless art form that bridges genres and generations. Hear timeless jazz standards; big-band gems by Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Roy Hargrove; and contemporary pieces that explore jazz’s influence on hip-hop, R&B, and pop.
