Le rythme de vie
Saturday, October 14, 2023 8 PM Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
Saxophonist Branford Marsalis reunites with the self-directed musicians of Orpheus Chamber Orchestra to revisit Ibert’s jazz-tinged Concertino da Camera from their 2001 album, Creation, along with an arrangement of Debussy’s Rhapsody. Veteran Orpheus arrangers Javier Diaz and Jannina Norpoth return with renditions of works by Lecuona and Gershwin that borrow sounds from dance halls around the world, including a new take on An American in Paris that blends Marsalis’ sax into the orchestral mix. Orpheus' latest commission by Antonio Garcia celebrates the spirit of New Orleans.
