Sunday, February 4, 2024

Marilyn Nonken, Deborah Norin-Kuehn
Arnold Schoenberg’s compositional style underwent profound transformation in the Weimar years. Marilyn Nonken—a student of Leonard Stein, the composer’s assistant—charts this transformation first from the keyboard as soloist, then joined by soprano Deborah Norin-Kuehn for Schoenberg’s deeply expressionistic setting of Stefan George’s The Book of the Hanging Gardens.
