Carnegie Hall Citywide: Caña Dulce y Caña Brava

Saturday, May 18, 2024 4 PM El Museo del Barrio
Caña Dulce y Caña Brava
Part of the great son jarocho musical and cultural tradition, Caña Dulce y Caña Brava invite audiences to explore the music, poetry, dance, and aesthetics of Veracruz, Mexico in this free, Saturday afternoon performance in Manhattan. With their bold and unusually expansive approach to son jarocho, these artists carve out a powerful new space in a longstanding tradition, blending a multitude of rhythms with traditional string instruments, percussion and percussive dance, a colorful assortment of projected visual effects, and poetic improvisation with a self-described emphasis on feminine voices and perspectives.
