Roomful of Teeth is a two-time Grammy Award–winning vocal band dedicated to reimagining the expressive potential of the human voice. By engaging collaboratively with artists, thinkers, and community leaders from around the world, the group seeks to uplift and amplify voices old and new while creating and performing meaningful and adventurous music.

Roomful of Teeth’s latest album, Rough Magic (New Amsterdam Records), was captured using groundbreaking recording techniques and innovative spatial technology. The ensemble was recognized at the 2024 Grammy Awards, winning Best Chamber Music / Small Ensemble Performance for Rough Magic; composer William Brittelle’s Psychedelics, which appears on Rough Magic, was also nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition.

Founded in 2009 by Brad Wells, the band was formed at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), where members studied with some of the world’s top performers and teachers, and commissioned composers who were known for breaking molds. The band continues to learn that the boundaries of the human voice are never what they seem, that rules can be bent and broken—and perhaps they should be.

As the world rapidly changes, Roomful of Teeth is cultivating deeper relationships with technology, continuing to expand the capabilities of the human voice, aiming to be unburdened by physical limitations. The ensemble members are excited about new collaborative projects that are focused on the stories of place, home, and community in the diverse environments our planet has provided. They explore these boundaries with passionate curiosity, contagious enthusiasm, and deep gratitude.

With more than 31 years performing around the world and a distinguished body of original repertoire, Tambuco Percussion Ensemble has earned global acclaim, firmly establishing itself as one of the premier percussion quartets of our time. Audiences are captivated by Tambuco’s artistry, showcased in programs that explore the vast and dynamic world of percussion music.

Tambuco is celebrated both as a national treasure of Mexico and as one of the most innovative chamber ensembles worldwide. The quartet’s members are known for their refusal to be confined by a single style, consistently pursuing perfection and delivering unique, virtuosic performances. Among its many distinctions, Tambuco has received the prestigious Japan Foundation Award for Arts and Culture.

The ensemble has performed across five continents, with standout appearances at esteemed venues such as Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, and Walt Disney Concert Hall in the US; Ino, Toppan, and Tsuda halls in Tokyo; the Barbican in London; and at the Festival de Radio France in Paris and Montpellier. Its tours have also included performances in Germany (Berliner Festspiele) and Australia (Queensland and Canberra music festivals), as well as concerts across Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.

To date, Tambuco has recorded 12 albums and garnered numerous acknowledgements, including four Grammy nominations and two Record Geijutsu nominations in Japan. Tambuco also performed and recorded music for the James Bond film Spectre. Upcoming engagements include performances at the Tanglewood Music Festival and Library of Congress, a tour across South America, and educational projects aimed at fostering the next generation of composers and performers.
