Ensemble Connect Up Close

Ecos: Music of Latinoamérica
Monday, January 27, 2025 7:30 PM Resnick Education Wing
Ensemble Connect by Fadi Kheir, Gabriela Ortiz by Mara Arteaga
The Up Close series is an opportunity for Ensemble Connect to collaborate with visionary artistic partners and craft new concert experiences. Tonight’s performance includes visual components by Martirene Alcántara and a program curated by Carnegie Hall’s 2024–2025 Debs Composer’s Chair: the inimitable Gabriela Ortiz, whose frequent collaborator Gustavo Dudamel calls “one of the most talented composers in the world.” It features a New York premiere by Ortiz and a variety of works—including a world premiere commissioned by Carnegie Hall—by five distinctive Latin American composers selected by Ortiz who represent Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and Colombia.
