Music of Survival: Works by Weinberg, Korngold, and Rovner
Monday, February 24, 2025
8 PM
Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
Celebrate survival and perseverance through the universal language of music. The program begins with two rarely heard gems from Holocaust survivors Weinberg and Korngold, written in the wake of all they endured: the New York premiere of Weinberg's Fantasy for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 52, and Korngold's Cello Concerto in C Major. After intermission, the program continues with the U.S. premiere of Gennady Rovner's Metamorphosis Symphony, echoing that same enduring spirit for the 21st century.
