Evgeny Kissin, Piano

Saturday, May 17, 2025 8 PM Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
Evgeny Kissin by Johann Sebastian Hänel / DG
Pianist Evgeny Kissin is a master of his craft, an artist whose rare technical mastery lives in complete service of his great interpretive and programmatic ambitions. This season, his recital begins with J. S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 in C Minor, BWV 826, a six-movement suite written for harpsichord. Short works by Chopin follow, including several of the mysterious and ruminative nocturnes, and the elegant Scherzo No. 4. In the second half of the program, Kissin launches a three-concert celebration of Shostakovich with the composer’s turbulent Second Piano Sonata and selections from Twenty-Four Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87.
