Nobuyuki Tsujii by Yuji Hori
Nobuyuki Tsujii returns with a program that’s an ideal introduction for new fans, and a tantalizing follow-up for those who attended his superb recent recitals at Carnegie Hall. It features another of Beethoven’s most notable sonatas—the dynamic “Appassionata”—as well as pianist Mikhail Pletnev’s masterful arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite, a true musical delight. Tsujii also treats listeners to a dazzling selection of solo-piano pieces by Liszt, a composer whose works he has performed to enormous international acclaim.
