Axelle Fanyo by Mademoiselle Kriss, Julius Drake by Marco Borggreve
Soprano and 2025 Grammy Award winner Axelle Fanyo is a major international rising star in opera and concert music. “She would make even the stones cry, finding phrasing, nuances, and half-tones of rare eloquence,” ClassiqueNews said of her title-role debut in Verdi’s Luisa Miller at Opéra d’Avignon. Fanyo’s sole Carnegie Hall appearance thus far has been during Renée Fleming’s SongStudio training program, where she praised Fanyo’s “beautiful voice [and] real star quality.” Fanyo now makes her recital debut with an eclectic program of Schoenberg, Cage, Messiaen, and William Bolcom, performed with Julius Drake—one of today’s foremost collaborative pianists, who has played with some of the world’s finest singers on all three of Carnegie Hall’s stages.
