Lisa Batiashvili by André Josselin, Giorgi Gigashvili by Luca Guadagnini / Lineematiche
Called “the complete musician” by London’s The Times, violinist Lisa Batiashvili is most frequently found as a soloist on Carnegie Hall’s largest stage. Tonight, in her first duo recital at the Hall, Batiashvili graces the intimate Zankel Hall with her rising-star musical partner, pianist Giorgi Gigashvili. The program includes some of the most singularly expressive works for violin and piano, including sonatas by Franck, Beethoven, and Bartók. The duo also presents a US premiere by Josef Bardanashvili, a celebrated composer and fellow Georgian whose music they have performed to acclaim on major international stages.
