About the Intensive

June 4–11, 2019

During the weeklong program, your ensemble will learn from leaders in the field through workshops aimed at strengthening your ability to connect with all kinds of audiences. You’ll explore opportunities to build a more dynamic concert experience and expand your professional portfolio. You’ll also have access to practice rooms and coaching with professional musicians including Ensemble Connect alums.

Workshops for the Audience Engagement Intensive will focus on

  • connecting with school and community audiences
  • connecting with concert audiences
  • building a career as a 21st-century musician

For the culmination of the Audience Engagement Intensive, your group will present

  • an interactive performance in an NYC public school
  • an interactive performance in an NYC community venue
  • an invitation-only showcase performance in Carnegie Hall's Resnick Education Wing

Your ensemble will leave the Audience Engagement Intensive with a

  • completed script for an interactive performance at schools or community venues
  • piece of chamber music that is coached and performed, with a workshopped audience engagement component
  • draft of a mission statement
  • new community of like-minded musicians
