Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Riccardo Muti conducts the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in back-to-back concerts to kick off Carnegie Hall’s 2023–2024 season! At the Opening Night Gala on October 4, the ensemble welcomes violin virtuoso Leonidas Kavakos in a program that features Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto and Mussorgsky’s evocative Pictures from an Exhibition, arranged for orchestra by Ravel. On October 5, the orchestra presents an Italian-themed program, featuring Felix Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony, Richard Strauss’s Aus Italien, and the New York premiere of Philip Glass’s The Triumph of the Octagon, written in honor of Muti.
