Anatolian Inspirations

Zankel Hall
New Manhattan Sinfonietta performs an orchestral suite Esintiler (Inspirations) by Turkish composer Ferit Tüzün, Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, "Turkish" and Beethoven's often neglected Symphony No. 4. Esintiler unfolds in three movements, incorporating Anatolian folk music and motives, while in Mozart's "Turkish" violin concerto the music lets loose with exoticism. Symphony No. 4 reveals what Beethoven could do next after the mighty "Eroica" that marked a turning point in symphony history.
