Hymns from Auschwitz: A Tribute to Viktor Ullman and Michel Assael—originally scheduled for Wednesday, January 26 at 8 PM in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage—has been postponed. New Manhattan Sinfonietta brings together premieres in this meaningful concert. This performance includes Hymns from Auschwitz for Hazans and piano by Elcil Gürel Göçtü, a young composer of Renan Koen's March of the Music Movement; Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, K.491, performed in memory of Viktor Ullmann; and, Auschwitz, a symphonic poem by survivor Michel Assael, which was discovered through the research of Dr. Joe Halio, assisted by Koen.
