Jean Rondeau is one of today’s leading harpsichordists. Following his US tour of J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Rondeau’s 2022–2023 season continues with numerous performances of Poulenc’s Concert Champêtre with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Tapiola Sinfonietta, and Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, as well as engagements with the Freiburger Barockorchester and The English Concert with Mr. Rondeau directing from the harpsichord. A notable season highlight is his upcoming artist portrait at the Wiener Konzerthaus, featuring him as a soloist with the Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien under Marin Alsop, as a chamber musician alongside his fellow co-founders of the Nevermind Quartet, and as a recitalist with his new solo program Gradus ad Parnassum. He also will perform this new program in multiple halls across Europe including the Philharmonie de Paris, Wigmore Hall, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, and other venues across Germany and Spain, to coincide with the eponymous album’s release in Spring 2023.

In June 2022, Mr. Rondeau gave the world premiere of UNDR at La Grange au Lac. Inspired by the Goldberg Variations and composed by Mr. Rondeau in collaboration with percussionist Tancrède D. Kummer, this new work conceived around two pianos and percussion will also be performed in the 2022–2023 season at the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Musikfest Stuttgart.

Mr. Rondeau’s 2022 recording of J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations was met with international critical acclaim, earning a five-star review from BBC Music Magazine and high praise in Gramophone. His previous album Melancholy Grace (2021) was acclaimed by The New York Times and Le Devoir. Scarlatti Sonatas (2019) and Barricades (2020), recorded with Thomas Dunford, both garnered widespread acclaim, the former winning the Diapason d’Or de l’Année. Earlier recordings include his debut album Imagine (2015) which won the Choc de Classica; Vertigo (2016) which won a Diapason d’Or; and Dynastie (2017).
