Winner of the 2022 YCA Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, Joseph Parrish is a Baltimore native and holds degrees from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard School. Recent operatic credits include Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and Augure in Rossi’s L’Orfeo at Juilliard; Spinelloccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi with Festival Napa Valley; and Le Baron de Pictordu in the City Lyric Opera’s production of Viardot’s Cendrillon. Next season he makes his Cincinnati Opera debut in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In addition to opera, Mr. Parrish enjoys a robust concert career performing with orchestras and in recitals at such prestigious venues as The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Alice Tully Hall, Brooklyn’s Church of St. Boniface Church, and both Weill Recital Hall and Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall.

His recent performances are presented by Washington Performing Arts, Newport Classical, Bridgehampton Chamber, American Classical Orchestra, Schwab Vocal Rising Stars, Death of Classical, Usedomer Musikfestival, Carnegie Hall Citywide, Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Denison University, and New York Festival of Song, and he appears in concert with the Bay Atlantic and Aiken symphonies, Memphis and Anne Arbor symphony orchestras, and Princeton Pro Musica.

Mr. Parrish is passionate about giving back to the various communities that have nurtured him. Currently pursuing an artist’s diploma at Juilliard, he has served as a Music Advancement Program chorus teaching fellow, Gluck Community Service fellow, and Morse teaching artist at the school. Mr. Parrish is also a member of the inaugural cohort of Shared Voices, an initiative designed to address diversity, equity, and inclusion through collaboration between historically Black colleges and universities, top conservatories, and schools of music in the US with The Denyce Graves Foundation.

JoyAnne Amani is a versatile and creative musician. As a collaborative pianist, she has performed with Priscilla Baskerville, Janice Chandler-Eteme, Janice Jackson, Robert Sims, and Denyce Graves. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Clarice Performing Arts Center, Notre-Dame de Paris, and London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral.

Ms. Amani has taught on the music faculties of Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute of Music, Morgan State University, Wayne State University, Marygrove College, and The City University of New York. She has taught courses on church music and worship at the Howard University School of Divinity and Ashland Theological Seminary. She has also served as a choral artist for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids program, as well as led the piano division and served as collaborative pianist for the Sphinx Organization’s preparatory programs in Detroit.

Her compositions have been premiered by the University of Maryland Baltimore County Jubilee Singers, and she has received commissions from First Unitarian Church of Baltimore and the Brown Memorial Park Avenue Presbyterian Church Choir, where she recently served as interim music director. Her arrangement of the spiritual “Little David, Play on Your Harp” for treble voices is published as part of Alliance Music’s Brazeal Dennard Chorale Series.

Currently, Ms. Amani serves as music adviser of The Denyce Graves Foundation and minister of music of Babcock Presbyterian Church. She is a collaborative pianist at University of Maryland Baltimore County. Believing that the gift of music can have a powerful and transformative effect on individuals, families, and communities, she founded Beauty for Ashes, a ministry that promotes healing, hope, and wholeness through music and spirituality.
