Soprano Lisette Oropesa is one of the most in-demand artists on the stages of the world, performing at leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Vienna State Opera, and Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Known for her seamless legato, solid technique, and impressive language skills, she interprets a broad operatic repertoire, including the bel canto tradition, Mozart and Handel, and French opera.

Ms. Oropesa’s portrayal of Violetta in La traviata has been highly acclaimed at the Met, Covent Garden, Teatro Real, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Arena di Verona, and Vienna State Opera, among others. Her star turn was as Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro Real, Royal Ballet and Opera, La Scala, and the Salzburg Festival. She has also been praised for her performances of Gilda in Rigoletto and Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, appearing on major stages such as the Vienna State Opera and the Bayerische Staatsoper.

In the 2024–2025 season, Ms. Oropesa continues to explore new and familiar roles. She performs Violetta in La traviata at the Vienna State Opera, sings Ophélie in Hamlet at the Salzburg Festival, and begins the season at Valencia’s Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Massenet’s Manon. She also makes two important role debuts: the title role in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda in Madrid and Marguerite in Faust at Covent Garden. Additional performances include her production debut of Elvira in I puritani in Paris, the title role in Alcina at Versailles, and Amalia in I masnadieri at the Bayerische Staatsoper, alongside concerts and recitals in locations such as Cap Rocat, Paris, New York, Geneva, and Naples.

An active performer of concert and recital repertoire, she has performed for audiences globally from Tokyo to Rio de Janeiro. Her acclaimed recordings include an award-winning disk of French-language bel canto arias of Rossini and Donizetti and a studio recording of La traviata, as well as a compilation of Mozart concert arias titled Ombra compagna. She’s also recorded two live recital disks: Within/Without and Aux filles du désert. This season, she will release three new albums: Lucia di Lammermoor, I puritani, and a compilation of zarzuela arias titled Mis amores son las flores.

Ken Noda is musical advisor to the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, where he met Lisette Oropesa in 2005 and became one of her coaches. He has been a coach at the Met since 1991. He is also a guest coach and collaborative pianist at the Verbier Festival and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute.

Born in New York to Japanese parents in 1962, Mr. Noda has worked as a solo pianist with Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Rafael Kubelík, James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, and André Previn, with such orchestras as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Vienna Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, and Orchestre de Paris. He has also played chamber music with Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. He has accompanied some of the world’s great singers, including Kathleen Battle, Hildegard Behrens, Maria Ewing, Aprile Millo, Jessye Norman, and Matthew Polenzani. He also worked closely with Marilyn Horne and Renata Scotto on the faculty of their training programs for young singers.
