University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra by Peter Smith
The Grammy Award-winning University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra arrives at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage directly from its tour of South Africa. Soprano and 2025 Grammy Award winner Karen Slack, South African soprano Goitsemang Lehobye, and bass Daniel Washington are featured in this concert conducted by UMSO Music Director and Grammy nominee Kenneth Kiesler. The evening’s program combines film and stage music by Bernstein and Gershwin with Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony, and spirituals that are both moving and joyful.
