Gidon Kremer: A Tribute to Arvo Pärt

Thursday, December 4, 2025 7:30 PM Zankel Hall
Gidon Kremer by Angie Kremer
Gidon Kremer “has served as a benchmark for the sound of the violin for me,” says composer Arvo Pärt. “He revealed my own music to me, and for that I am eternally grateful!” Experience one of the most impactful musical relationships of the past century, as the violin master pays tribute to Pärt’s unique genius. Featuring cellist Giedrė Dirvanauskaitė and pianist Georgijs Osokins, this heartfelt program pairs notable works by Pärt with a piece by the composer’s late friend and colleague, Giya Kancheli. The concert also treats listeners to Rachmaninoff’s soaring elegy for Tchaikovsky. A virtuosic and emotional piano trio composed at a truly grand scale, its performance is a musical event unto itself.
