Benjamin Grosvenor by Andrej Grilc
Hailed as one of the “50 best classical pianists on record” (Gramophone) and “a genius that has reached the height of his interpretative powers” (The Spectator), it’s easy to forget how relatively young Benjamin Grosvenor’s career still is. “One could not imagine a more ideal interpretation ... a miracle in the field,” Diapason writes of his award-winning Chopin renditions, while his Ravel interpretations have been called “well-nigh perfect … stunning virtuoso playing” (Bachtrack). He performs major works by both composers on tonight’s program, as well as Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in its original, virtuosic solo-piano format.
