George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue
Carnegie Hall celebrates 100 years of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue—a quintessential, early fusion of classical music and jazz that remains one of the 20th century’s most popular works. Michael Feinstein and Jean-Yves Thibaudet explore Gershwin’s vast musical world through an intimate evening of piano duos. The great Marcus Roberts Trio joins The Philadelphia Orchestra to imbue Rhapsody in Blue with world-class improvisation, as Gershwin intended. The New York Pops welcomes Tony nominee Montego Glover and pianist Lee Musiker in a program that includes Rhapsody in Blue as well as selections from Porgy and Bess, Cuban Overture, and several of George and Ira Gershwin’s best-loved songs.
