Ensemble Connect
Cellist Ari Evan was born and raised in New York. Prior to joining Ensemble Connect, he completed his master’s degree at The Juilliard School, studying with Timothy Eddy. A versatile chamber musician, Ari has performed with renowned artists, including Colin Carr, Hsin-Yun Huang, Ani Kavafian, and Itzhak Perlman, as well as members of the Cleveland Quartet, Artemis Quartet, and Berliner Philharmoniker. His festival appearances include performances at Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, Krzyżowa-Music, IMS Prussia Cove, Perlman Music Program, Olympic Music, and Four Seasons Chamber Music. While at Juilliard, Ari was a member of the Bordone Quartet.
A strong proponent of new music and cross-disciplinary collaborations, Ari regularly takes part in Ensemble for the Romantic Century, a theater company that creates shows and plays centered on core Romantic chamber music and featuring actors, singers, and dancers. He has also played as part of the Metropolis Ensemble and the Cantanti Project.
A passionate teacher, Ari often coaches pre-college chamber music at Juilliard and held a cello faculty position at the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music during the 2017–2018 academic year. In November 2017, he helped lead a weeklong music classroom workshop at the Nord Anglia International School Dubai through Juilliard Global Ventures. His musical endeavors have also brought him to Japan, Israel, Germany, Switzerland, France, England, and Canada. As part of his fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Ari teaches at PS 52 Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn.
