Marguerite Cox
Marguerite Cox is a double bassist from Northeast Ohio. In 2023, she received her master’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she was a member of the first-ever class of instrumental master’s students and the first recipient of a Master of Music in Double Bass Performance. She graduated from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, where she was a student of Paul Ellison and worked closely with Tim Pitts. Maggie is equally comfortable performing in orchestra, chamber, and solo settings, and has a special interest in contemporary music. While at Rice, Maggie earned a minor in poverty, justice, and human capabilities. As a student in the PJHC program, she organized a series of benefit concerts called Artists for Action, which brought together musicians of all genres and backgrounds for an evening of music and community engagement. Maggie loves tattoos, country music, spending time outside, and hanging out with family and friends. As part of her fellowship with Ensemble Connect, Maggie teaches at Brooklyn High School of the Arts.
